Liam Cole, Open Space Planning Officer, Wellington Shire Council is arranging a FREE professional development day for those responsible for the planning, development, and management of public open spaces which will be held in Warragul.
This is the third event they have held and it has grown in strength, with local government recognising the importance of supporting the development of the staff.
Previous years have seen staff from across Gippsland LGA’s and the industry supporting the events, with around 60 attending last year.
This year, being held in Warragul, is a great opportunity for Sports Turf Association members to be alerted to the day and possibly attending if they see value in the day.
So far there is a great range of speakers, particularly those from outside the industry that impacts the delivery of open spaces. They include:
Jolyon Taylor – Gippsland Water – discuss integrated water management
- Tim Bilston – Syngenta – possibly discussing new products that are being released to improve our work
- Engie Hazelwood – rehabilitation of the Hazelwood Mine in Morwell and the company’s plan to turn it into open space.
There will be specific topics on trees, and horticulture as well as the opportunity to discuss with sales reps that will be in attendance as well – pretty much a one stop shop.
