# STA Update: October 2015

The early warm dry weather in Melbourne has caught most of us turfies off guard with only a couple of millimeters of rain falling for the month compared to the monthly average for October of 66mm. We have also experienced some unseasonably hot days which has been good for couch reestablishment.

ASABA and STA VIC held a Sportsfield seminar and field day on September 17 at Eltham College with 125 delegates attending. Martin Sheppard from Smart Connection Consultancy gave a presentation on synthetic surfaces with a focus on the good & the bad aspects of installing them. Next was a panel session on project management with panel members Jarrod Hill, Ian Wilson and Hamish Sutherland talking about the development of Melbourne City’s new playing training facility.

Morning tea was held out on one of the playing fields which provided delegates the opportunity to network at the trade show. The next presenter was Deidre Dattoli who gave a presentation on high performing teams. The last presenter before lunch was Adam Mattoli who spoke about the restoration of RMIT. Lunch was then held out on the playing field/ trade show area. After lunch Key Note speaker Ex AFL player and coach Terry Wallace spoke about his career and goal setting.
