Parks & Leisure Australia’s Vic/Tas region is gearing up for their Sportsground Management and Field Day this month.
The event will be held February 24th at Casey Field’s VFL Pavillion in Cranbourne East, and will cater to those who manage and prepare sportsgrounds.
PLA’s seminar will look at all matters of turf management relating to elite and community standard sportsgrounds. Covering topics in maintaining a playing surface, preparing wickets, the qualities of hybrid turf, replacing sections of turf, even the complete rebuild of a sportsground.
Park & Leisure Australia’s Executive Officer for Victoria and Tasmania, Richard Simon has told us registrations for the seminar have just about covered every point of Victoria so far, with delegates from Horsham, Wodonga, Mansfield, Sale and plenty from Melbourne Metro areas set to attend.
With supporting organisations like Urban Maintenance Systems, City of Casey, Toro, HG Sports Turf and Anco Instant Turf, there are plenty of interesting components at this event for all members of the industry to learn something.
The event will begin with Community Sports Coordinator for the City of Casey, Wright Paterson giving attendees an overview of the Casey Fields sports precinct.
Developed by the City of Casey, the 76 hectare venue is the premier outdoor sports facility in Melbourne’s South East. Maintained for use all year round, Casey Fields accomodates facilites for state and community level football, cricket, athletics and criterium, as well as community standard netball, rugby league and union, and tennis.
The precinct also features a family friendly area, complete with picnic area, a lake flocked with fish and other wildlife, and an onsite water harvesting system which will be toured on the day of the seminar.
The seminar also ends with a tour of Anco Seed and Turf farm, where visitors can inspect and discuss different soil types, and see Anco’s live turf harvest and water treatment plant.
